TheAirport handled a total of 299,603 passengers in the first quarter of 2011,which is an increase of 13,591 (+4.8%) compared to the same period of the prioryear. The highest passenger volumes were recorded on international flights toand from Samara, both scheduled and charter (up 16.5%). The traffic reportrevealed among the regular international flights the top five city destinationsfor Q1 2011 to be Dubai, Prague,Frankfurt, Dushanbe, and Yerevan. Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh,previously the busiest routes from Samara, recorded a passenger decline in Q12011 compared with Q1 2010, due to the recent upheavals in Egypt. The dropof tourism-related traffic in Egyptappears to have boosted results at other winter sun destinations from Samara,such as Bangkok and Goa.
Topfive domestic destinations from Samara in Q1 2011 were: Moscow,Saint Petersburg, Niznhy Novgorod, Surgut, andYekaterinburg. The overall domestic passenger numbers in the first three monthsof 2011 rose by 0.8% compared to the same period last year.
Togetherwith the passenger traffic through Kurumoch Airport, other figureshave also increased recently. In the first three months of 2011, the Airporthandled 889.9 tons of cargo (including transit cargo), an increase of 16.9%over the level recorded in the comparable prior year period. The figures ofmaximum take-off weight (MTOW) grew to 272,712 tons, up 13.5% compared to thesame period last year. Aircraft movements in Q1 this year were also positive,posting a 12% increase.
