Onthe 31st of March 1996, Lufthansa,the fifth-largest airline in the world and the biggest airline in Germany,operated its inaugural flight from Samara. Initially, there were only twoflights a week on Boeing-737 between Samara and Frankfurt with an intermediatestop at Nizhny Novgorod. A year later, theflight frequency increased up to three times a week.
TodayLufthansa operates scheduled flightsto and from Frankfurt four times a week onA-319. The residents of Samara as well as the Mid-Volga region can fly with Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partners via Frankfurt to 18 domestic destinationsand 183 international destinations in 78 countries across Africa, Americas, Asia and Europe.Together with its partners Lufthansaservices around 410 destinations.
