Kurumochcontinues to show an increase in the number of passengers using the Airport. Atotal of 99,774 passengers flew in and out of Samara in January 2011, up 8,360from a year ago, or 9.1%.
Onceagain, international travel (both scheduled and charter) recorded the highestrise in passenger levels, growing by 44.9% this January. Such destinations as Dubai, Prague,Frankfurt, Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, and Bangkokwere the most popular among travellers using Kurumoch last month.
As for domestic routes, the highest grow inpassenger flow was recorded in flights connecting Samara with Moscow,Saint Petersburg, and Surgut.
Together with the passengertraffic through Kurumoch Airport, other figureshave also increased recently. In January 2011, Kurumoch reported its cargo andmail traffic growth as the Airport handled 242.1 tonnes of cargo (includingtransit cargo), an increase of 35.6 % over the level recorded in the comparableprior year period. Last month the Airport recorded 1,414 aircraft movements, up16.7% from the number of take-offs and landings operated for the same period lastyear, whilethe figures of maximum take-off weight (MTOW) grew to 95,158 tonnes, up 21.1%compared to the same month last year.
To further expand the routenetwork the management of Kurumoch International Airporthas been holding intensive negotiations for potential cooperation with otherRussian and foreign airlines. This summer new air carriers are expected toenter Samara air transport market.
Suchcarriers as “UTair”, “Orenair”, ”Aeroflot - Russian Airlines”, “S7 Airlines”showed the most considerable increase in the figures of January 2011.
