18 June 2018 has become a record-breaking day for Kurumoch International Airport (part of Airports of Regions Holding): on this day, the operational units served 14,273 passengers. This is the maximum daily passenger traffic in the modern history of Samara airport.
The number of flights serviced (arrival and departure) has more than doubled. On 18 June, the airlines performed 125 take-off and landing operations, that is, during the day aircraft landed at Samara airport every 11.5 minutes.
This maximum was achieved due to increased traffic in the popular tourist destinations. That day, flights were performed to Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Spain, Bulgaria, as well as to the domestic Black Sea resorts. Besides, domestic flights between the cities hosting the World Cup matches: Ekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi, Moscow, and St. Petersburg, have contributed to the record. Moscow, Antalya, St. Petersburg, Sochi, and Simferopol were the top 5 most popular destinations on 18 June
