Kurumoch International Airport has released its monthly traffic figures for August 2010 which show passenger numbers up 12.5% over the same month last year.

Overall, the Airport handled169,289 passengers in August 2010, up 18,783 from a year ago, or 12.5%.                              

The highestdomestic passenger traffic growth in August was recorded on scheduled flightsbetween Samara and Moscow, but also Nizhnevartovsk, Saint Petersburg,Irkutsk, and Surgut. Among the most popular internationaldestinations traveled to and from Samara on a regular basis this August were Yerevan, Prague, Tashkent, Tel Aviv, and Frankfurt. 

In the charterflight business, passenger numbers have also increased. The most popular traveldestinations among the residents of Samara and its neighbouring regions inAugust 2010 were Antalya, Varna,Larnaca, but also Tivat in Montenegro,a new direct route from Kurumoch this summer. 

Last month the Airportalso crossed the one million mark by welcoming 1,044,187 passengers for theperiod January-August 2010. 

Continuing itsupward trend, this August Kurumoch reported its cargo and mail traffic growthas the Airport handled 356.9 tonnes of freight (including transit), an increaseof 18.9% as compared to the corresponding period last year. 

Aircraft movementsincreased by 3.7% and amounted to 1,850, while maximum take-off weight (MTOW) grewto 122,798 tonnes, up 3.1% compared to the same month last year. 

Such carriers as “UTair”, “Donavia”,“S7 Airlines”, “Nordavia”, “Orenair”, “Avianova” showed the most considerableincrease in the figures of August 2010. Kurumoch International Airport togetherwith air carries are constantly striving to widen their route network as wellas to increase the frequency of flights on the existing destinations.
