A significant milestone was reached on Sundayafternoon (December 12) when more than 1.5 million passengers had travelledthrough the Airport in a year. Kurumoch International Airportas independent company has surpassed this mark for the first time. Thepassenger flow through Samara Airport (formerly the Samara United Air Group) last crossed the milestone of 1.5 million inthe early 1990’s.
With this continuing positive trend, Kurumochexpects to see a further rise in passenger traffic next year. For that, theAirport together with air carriers are constantly strivingto widen their route network and increase the frequency of flights on theexisting destinations.
Kurumoch InternationalAirport is the largest and busiestairport of the Central Volga region and ranks among Russia’s top ten airports (it ranksseventh in international air traffic). It is located near the most industriallydeveloped and densely populated cities of the Volgaregion, with a combined population of over 11 million.
Each year Kurumoch now handles over 1 million passengers, and the latestfigures show that the number of air travellers using the Airport is continuingto increase.
Around 30 Russian and foreign airlines operate scheduled flights fromthe Airport that has an extensive route network to practically all the regionsof the Russian Federation as well as nearby and distant countries.
