Kurumoch International Airport has tabulated the results of its business activity for May 2012. The Airport demonstrates the dynamic growth in all the main figures in spite of the aerodrome reconstruction process in operation.

 

For the month, Kurumoch handled 159,157 passengers in total which is an increase of 7.8% overthe same period last year.

 

The most considerablegrowth was again recorded on the international flights, the number of suchtravelers increased 18.5% compared to May 2011. Moreover such destinations as Dubai, Prague, Tel-Aviv,Frankfurt as well as Baku, Yerevan,Dushanbe and Tashkent showed the significant increase+27.7% in passenger traffic figures.

Thenumber of passengers handled by the Airport on charter international routesincreased by 13.2% as compared with the same period last year.  The mostpopular tourist destinations in May were Heraklion, Barcelona,Antalya,Monastir, Larnaca, Dalaman, Sharm el-Sheikh and others.

Thetotal number of domestic travellers flying through Samara was up 0.8% andamounted to 90,360. Most of these passengers decided to travel to Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Togetherwith the passenger traffic through Samara Airport, other figureshave also increased recently. In May 2012, mail and cargo traffic, includingtransit cargo, amounted to 400.2 tons, demonstrating growth by 13.9% over thelevel recorded in the comparable prior year period. The figures of aircraftmovements increased by 5.6 % and amounted to 1,816.  

Such carriers as “Aeroflot - Russian Airlines”,“Ural Airlines”, “Orenburg Airlines”, “S7 Airlines”, “UTair”, “Rossiya”,“Transaero”  and “Flydubai”  showed the most considerable increase in thefigures of May 2012. Kurumoch International Airporttogether with air carriers have been constantly striving to widen their routenetwork as well as to increase the frequency of flights on the existingdestinations.

31 May 2012 Kurumoch International Airport has won the first prize in Production Development nomination within the framework of the contest The Best Airport of the Year 2011 among CIS Countries (the Association Airport of CIS Civil Aviation). 21 June 2012 Kurumoch International Airport welcomed a delegation of the Russia 2018 Organizing Committee, together with a group of FIFA experts
