Passengertraffic for seasonal international charter flights through Kurumoch Airportis increasing despite the continued economic downturn. In July 2009, passengerfigures for a number of destinations to Europe and Asiaincreased by 6.1% as compared with the same period last year. Routes thatexperienced the most growth were Antalya,Dalaman, Hurghada and Forli.
Thetotal number of international travellers (both scheduled and charter) handledat the Airport last July remained the same as over the same period in 2008 andamounted to 54,284 passengers.
Meanwhile,the number of domestic passengers at Kurumoch Airport fell 18.8% to92,369 for the last month.
Passengerstatistics show that in July 2009, Kurumoch handled a total of 146,653passengers, a decline of 12.8% from the same period of the previous year, andbecame one of the few Russian airports to represent the least percentagedecline, amid the current economic downturn.
Such carriers as “Aeroflot - Russian Airlines”,“Aeroflot – Nord”, “Aeroflot – Don”, “Orenburg Airlines”, “S7Airlines” showed the most considerable increase in the passenger figures of July2009. Kurumoch International Airporttogether with air carriers have been constantly striving to widen their routenetwork as well as to increase the frequency of flights on the existingdestinations.
