Kurumoch Airport Playing Host to Largest European Air Rally

The Kurumoch International Airport (member of the Airports of Regions Holding) hosted the Europe’s largest annual airplane rally Rallye Aéro France. Seventeen two-seat and four-seat single engine airplanes landed at once in the Samara Airport, with Mooney M20E, Cessna 182, Piper PA28, Cirrus SR22, and Lancair Legacy among them. About 40 travelers arrived at Kurumoch in total.

The airplane rally started on June 8 from Colmar, France. The route passes through the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Estonia, Turkey, Greece and Albania this year, with the main leg crossing Russia. Participants have already completed landings in Pskov, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, and Ekaterinburg (Koltsovo Airport - also a member of the Airports of Regions Holding). Volgograd, Krasnodar and Sochi will be hosts of the airplane rally after the stop in Samara.

The first Rallye Aéro France took place in 1995. Amateur pilots on airplanes with the wing span not above 11 meters and the maximum takeoff weight not exceeding 2 tonnes are eligible for participation in it. Russia plays host to such unique flight for the first time.
