Onthe 31st of March 1996,
Lufthansa, one of the leading airlines inthe world and the biggest airline in Germany, operated its inauguralflight from Samara. Initially, there were only two flights a week on Boeing-737from Samara to Frankfurt with an intermediate stop in Nizhny Novgorod. A year later, the flight frequency increased up to threetimes a week.
Sincethen, many changes have taken place. Over a few years,
Lufthansahas beenoperating scheduled flights to and from Frankfurtdaily. The Airline offers service on A-319 and A-320.
Today,the residents of the Samara Region as well as the entire Volga Region, can flyon
Star Alliancepartners via Frankfurt to over 800 destinationsin 152 countries of Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa.
